Sierra Brake Conversion

This conversion uses the Ford Sierra (non-ABS) front calipers, caliper carriers & vented discs. It is not a straight "bolt on" replacement and does require a significant amount of work.

I first obtained a pair of calipers & carriers from my local scrappy. I then bought a pair of new Sierra vented discs. After inspecting the hubs on my Sprint for wear, I sent the discs & hubs to be machined & drilled.

I have taken part in several Track Days since converting my brakes & I must say I'm very impressed. I haven't had any brake fade and the stopping power is excellent compared with the standard front brakes, even using standard pads.

This front brake conversion for the Sprint (or other Dolomites) was designed by Jon Jackson who has given me permission to put these details on my website. Please note that I have not shown all stages of the conversion just the main points.

On the left is the new Sierra vented disc which has been drilled to match the PCD of the Sprint hub, with the Sprint hub (right) which has been machined to fit into the disc. The special bracket (top) has been manufactured to take the Sierra caliper whilst still utilising the Sprint vertical link.
The Sprint vertical link. One of the top lugs has to be cut down to allow the Sierra caliper carrier to fit. The other link needs to be made the opposite to this one.
This part of the Sierra caliper needs to have metal removed to give 2-3mm. clearance inside the Sprint wheel.
